What kind of workshop is this?

This workshop is intended for investigators, analysts, researchers and investigative journalists from the public and private sectors and for anyone involved in collecting information from the Telegram chat application in the context of investigation, intelligence, public order and/or law enforcement.

For security reasons only EU, UK, Swiss and Norwegian nationals are admitted to the training

What are the training objectives?

The following learning objectives have been established for this live online workshop.

You understand how a search engine works and how you can use it optimally in your own investigation

You know how to use different search engines (Google, Yandex, Baidu, etc.)

You know how to make searching easier with Boolean search operators

You know how to keep only relevant search results

You know how to research images and videos using Google

You know how to extract text from images using Google

You know how to translate (parts of) web pages via Google

You know how to consult archived/cached files of web pages via Google

You know how to monitor keywords using alerts

You can create your own programmable search engine

What are the costs?

The costs for open registrations are € 95,- free of VAT* for organisations that are tax exempted. For organisations that have no tax exemption, the costs will be € 95,- excluding VAT.

What do you need for this workshop?

This workshop is provided to you as a live online workshop via the online conferencing platform Microsoft Teams. To participate in this workshop you will need the following:

A computer or laptop

A stable internet connection

The free software of Zoom

A web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.)

A fake Google account

A VPN connection (optional, but recommended)

A second monitor (optional, but advised)

Please note: if you want to actively participate in practice assignments during the workshop, we advise you to have a web browser and a Google account. Prior to your workshop, you will receive a document containing detailed information about how you can best prepare for the workshop.
