About this training

The OSINT training III (Expert) is a follow-up to the OSINT training I (Beginner) and the OSINT training II (Professional) and is the third and final module of the Post HBO Registertraining to become a Certified Open Source Intelligence Expert®.

The Post HBO Registertraining to become a Certified Open Source Intelligence Expert® is a practical and interactive training course that focuses on safely collecting, monitoring, recording and analyzing information from public sources on the internet and social media.

By following the accredited course, the student gains knowledge and skills to search and analyze information on the internet in a safe and effective manner within the framework of the law, to store this information in a structured manner and to communicate and report about it in a thorough manner.

The knowledge and skills acquired in this Post HBO Registertraining offer the student added value to work as a investigator, analyst or researcher within the public and private sector or within an organization in which the Certified Open Source Intelligence Expert® is involved in law enforcement and intelligence investigations.

The OSINT training III (Expert) is intended for invesitagors, analysts and researchers who want to distinguish themselves from the average OSINT employee in terms of knowledge, insight, attitude and skills. The training is therefore specially intended for employees who conduct open source research on the internet on a daily basis and who want to gain more in-depth knowledge of this.

This OSINT-training is suitable for law enforcement, intelligence personnel, private investigators, insurance investigators, researchers, recruiters, sourcers, customer due diligence analyst, journalists, lawyers, governments and (local) authorities.

For security reasons only EU, UK, Swiss and Norwegian nationals are admitted to the training.

The aim of the four-day OSINT training III (Expert) is that after following this training you can independently, within the applicable legal frameworks and in a safe manner, conduct effective and high-quality internet research and that you can report on this in a thorough manner.

On day 1 of this training you will deal with different types of data types (HTML, JSON, XML and CSV) and sending (edited) network requests via different HTTP clients (Postman, Python and cURL). You will learn what web APIs are and how you can use them in your research.

On day 2 of the training you will dive into the world of web scraping and the use of open source (Python) tools. You will learn how to extract specific data from websites using various browser extensions and how to extract bulk data from social media accounts via Python.

On day 3, you will practice processing CSV and JSON files to use for further analysis purposes. You will learn to analyze and visualize data that you have collected yourself (in Maltego and Gephi), applying static methods and social network analyses.

On day 4 you will work on automating searches, creating a timeline of an event, using regular expressions, programmable search engines and researching cryptocurrencies.

You conclude the training with a final test, which you must submit to us within one month after the last day of classes. If you obtain a passing grade for this homework assignment, you may use the title Certified Open Source Intelligence Expert (COE®).

The costs for open registrations are € 2.275,- free of VAT* for organisations that are tax exempted. For organisations that have no tax exemption, the costs will be € 2.275,- excluding VAT.
